Grow with AI · Shared introduction
The shared introduction
Four sessions both programs begin with, and an optional fifth. Whoever did them for “Create with AI” does not repeat them for “Learn with AI”.
-
I-1 · What you already do with AI, and what you don’t yet
What happens
A conversation: what bothers you about AI and what you use it for; the Learning Facilitator shows work of their own, for creating and for learning; the two-column board for the first time.
What I can do afterwards
Name where I am starting from and separate “the same, faster” from “more, better, beyond”.
-
I-2 · Is this cheating? Did it help them learn?
What happens
Cases sorted from “clearly not” to “clearly yes”, the same line with another question — who learned something? — and each table’s rule.
What I can do afterwards
Tell using AI to think from using it not to think, and defend a rule of my own with a reason.
-
I-3 · The friction that teaches
What happens
Friction as part of learning, the technology that has been removing it, “if a game is too easy, you drop it”, and three lines about something you do with AI today: I keep ___, I hand over ___, I use what is freed for ___.
What I can do afterwards
Name which effort I want to keep, what I hand over on purpose and what I do with what is freed.
Its own page comes later; meanwhile, its ideas are on the front page of “Learn with AI”.
-
I-4 · The rules of this room
What happens
The room agreement: what is not up for discussion, privacy included, the questions that are discussed, and the signature. At the close, the choice: this year I do “Create with AI”, “Learn with AI” or both.
What I can do afterwards
Agree through discussion how AI is used in my room, keep to it, and choose what I do this year.
-
I-4b · AI on your own computer · optional
What happens
Read your computer, choose a local model with four criteria and check it with the same request to two models, offline.
What I can do afterwards
Read my computer, choose a local model by criteria and check it with the same request.
Optional: it runs only if the program decides so.
In what order
In “Create with AI”, the introduction is interleaved with the start of the project: I-1, Unit 01, Unit 02, I-2, I-3, and I-4 in the same session as Unit 04. In a group doing only “Learn with AI”, it runs straight through: I-1, I-2, I-3, I-4.
What we ask of you
Two things, for the introduction and for both programs. None of it is graded.
-
One hour of your own each week
On top of your time in the room, if you are in an in-person cohort, or your time on the platform: one hour a week for what you have to do on your own. Moving your project forward, studying with your own material, checking without AI what you learned. Nobody checks up on it; if you can’t keep it up, talk it over with your Learning Facilitator.
-
A notebook or folder just for the program
A physical one, whichever you have. Your handwritten notes go there, along with the pieces you build with: sheets, lists, sketches, drafts. It’s yours: nobody reads it unless you show it.
A digital folder is also coming for cohort participants and for people with an aiLearning.global account, to keep copies, notes and files. It isn’t available yet.
