Why games work for learning

Earned attention

A good game doesn't demand attention — it earns it. When learners want to take the next turn, motivation stops being the teacher's problem and becomes the design's job.

Safe failure

In a game, failing costs a restart, not a grade. That changes a learner's relationship with mistakes: they become information to act on, which is exactly the mindset deep learning requires.

Immediate feedback

Every action gets an instant, visible response. Learners adjust in seconds instead of waiting days for a corrected assignment — hundreds of feedback loops in a single session.

Practice through play

Mastery takes repetition, and repetition is boring — unless it's a game. Games disguise practice as challenge, so learners willingly repeat until the skill sticks.

Archaeology & heritage

ArcLycée — Aventura Arqueológica Dominicana

An adventure game exploring the archaeological heritage of the Dominican Republic — from the Pomier Caves to the Museum of the Dominican Man — created by Les Fous du Robot, the robotics class of the Lycée Français de Santo Domingo. Every conflict is resolved through dialogue, negotiation, and citizen activism, and it plays in Spanish, English, or French.

What you learn: Caribbean archaeology and heritage, plus peaceful conflict resolution — with an educator guide, an in-game encyclopedia, and a large bank of assessment questions.

La Travesía de Cary
