The dungeon with a sarcastic narrator
A floor-by-floor text game where a mocking system hands you absurd achievements as you go down a made-up dungeon.
Fill in the spaces and watch it change
Create a text game for the browser, a floor-by-floor dungeon crawler, inspired by the humor of Dungeon Crawler Carl but with an original world and characters and no swearing. The player goes down through a made-up school building with five basements, where each floor is a school subject. Each floor has three rooms, and in each room the player chooses between two or three buttons. A system narrator comments on every decision with friendly sarcasm and hands out absurd achievements, for example “Achievement: you opened a door. Congratulations, that is what people do.” The final goal is rescue the ball that fell down the stairwell ten years ago. The player has 3 lives and an inventory of at most 4 items. No blood: monsters give up, fall asleep or leave offended. Save progress only while the tab stays open.
3 fields are missing: they will be copied with the examples. The examples are fine to start with, but your own details are what make the piece yours.
Where it is made: A tool that generates code for browser games, the one your Learning Facilitator set up for the Unit.
- Write three absurd achievements yourself before pasting the prompt, and add them at the end: humor shows most when it is yours.
- Change the number of floors: three well-made floors beat ten empty ones.
- Ask for every inventory item to be useful on a different floor.
- C1: it is clear what to do in each room without separate instructions.
- C2: the narrator has its own recognizable voice throughout the game.
- C3: at least one decision changes what happens next.
And at the end: did the prompt get better, or did the question?
