Worked example: the school of magic trailer
Worked example: a school of magic trailer that stopped looking like a copy once the magic started coming from everyday life.
Fill in the spaces and watch it change
Create a 20-second trailer, in four shots, for an original school of magic, with the sense of wonder of Harry Potter. The school is in a colonial fortress facing the sea and its magic comes from music: every spell is a rhythm played on güira or tambora. Shot 1: the entrance, at night. Shot 2: a class where something ordinary does magic. Shot 3: a hallway with a mystery. Shot 4: the name of the school in big letters. No characters from the original work.
3 fields are missing: they will be copied with the examples. The examples are fine to start with, but your own details are what make the piece yours.
Where it is made: A text-to-video generator, the one your Learning Facilitator set up for the Unit.
- Attempt 1 in this example: “Trailer for a school of magic.” Out came a castle with robes and wands: a copy.
- What changed in attempt 2: the team changed the question from “what does a school of magic look like?” to “where would magic come from here?” Music as spells changed everything.
- Now you: change the source of the magic to something that exists in your life (cooking, baseball, plants).
- C1: nobody would mistake it for the work that inspired it.
- C2: the source of the magic is clear without explaining it.
And at the end: did the prompt get better, or did the question?
