Duel of deductions
A detective game played with clues: someone is making the school’s homework disappear, and you have five questions to find out who.
Fill in the spaces and watch it change
Create a deduction game for the browser inspired by the battle of wits in Death Note, but with no deaths and no violence: the mystery is a mysterious notebook where, if you write the name of a subject, its homework disappears. The suspects, all made up, are four: the librarian, the janitor, the class rep and the school cat; each one has a profile card and an alibi. The player can ask only five questions (buttons) and check three clues. One of the clues is false on purpose. At the end, the player accuses someone and the game explains the correct deduction step by step. The mystery is picked at random from three versions so the game can be played again.
3 fields are missing: they will be copied with the examples. The examples are fine to start with, but your own details are what make the piece yours.
Where it is made: An assistant that builds interactive browser pages (HTML and JavaScript), the one your Learning Facilitator set up for the Unit.
- Solve the mystery yourself on paper first: if the deduction doesn’t hold up, the game won’t either.
- The false clue is the hardest part; write it yourself and ask the tool to hide it well.
- The suspects are made-up characters, never real people from your school.
- C1: it can be solved with the clues, without guessing.
- C2: the final explanation convinces whoever got it wrong.
- C3: there’s no violence anywhere.
And at the end: did the prompt get better, or did the question?
