The bridge that changes everything
A pop song whose bridge turns around everything the verses said. You make it twice, with a written prediction.
Fill in the spaces and watch it change
Create a pop song about two and a half minutes long with this structure: verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, final chorus. Style: pop with an acoustic guitar that turns electric in the bridge. The story is someone complaining that their best friend switched schools and doesn’t text anymore. The bridge has to change the meaning of everything before it: that the one who stopped texting was actually them, afraid of being a bother. After the bridge, the last chorus repeats the same words, but now they should feel different. Generic voice. I’ll give you the lyrics I wrote in my next message.
3 fields are missing: they will be copied with the examples. The examples are fine to start with, but your own details are what make the piece yours.
Where it is made: A music generator that takes lyrics, the one your Learning Facilitator set up for the Unit.
- Listen to the bridge of a song you like (without copying it) and say in one sentence what it does: does it change the story, the tone, or who is speaking?
- Before pasting anything, write by hand: “What we think will come out: ______”. When you see the result, note whether what you anticipated came out or not.
- Attempt 1 with the lyrics just as you wrote them; attempt 2 after the feedback from C1, C2 or C3.
- C1: the last chorus feels different from the first, even with the same words.
- C2: the twist in the bridge is surprising, but it makes sense.
- C3: we can say whether, between attempt 1 and attempt 2, the instruction got better or the question got better, and why.
And at the end: did the prompt get better, or did the question?
