A mystery series in five parts
An audio drama in episodes: in this session you write the first episode and the series bible.
Fill in the spaces and watch it change
We are going to create a mystery audio drama in five 4-minute episodes, with the tone of Gravity Falls: weird, funny, a little unsettling, never horror. The mystery: every night at 3:33, grandpa's old radio broadcasts tomorrow's weather forecast, and it is always right. The leads are two original characters: two cousins spending the holidays in a mountain village; he believes everything and she believes nothing. Today I need two things: 1) the series “bible” on one page: what happens in each episode, which clue appears in each one and what the final solution is; 2) the full script of episode 1, with a narrator, two voices and sound effects in square brackets. Every episode ends on a question that hooks the listener.
3 fields are missing: they will be copied with the examples. The examples are fine to start with, but your own details are what make the piece yours.
Where it is made: A text assistant for the script; for the recording, your own voice in the classroom or a generic synthetic voice from the catalog, the one your Learning Facilitator set up for the Unit.
- Write the final solution before anything else: a good mystery is written from the ending.
- Ask another team to listen to episode 1 and bet on the solution; if they guess it, the clues are too obvious.
- Record with your own voices in the classroom or with generic voices; make the sound effects with objects (paper, water, a door).
- C1: episode 1 ends and you want to hear episode 2.
- C2: the solution is surprising but fair to the clues.
- C3: you can tell who is speaking without seeing them.
And at the end: did the prompt get better, or did the question?
