From neighborhood ball to the Major Leagues
A 3-minute episode about the road from the neighborhood ballfield to pro baseball, with verified facts and no imitating anyone.
Fill in the spaces and watch it change
Write the script for a 3-minute podcast episode (about 400 words) for two invented hosts, about why the Dominican Republic is one of the countries that produces the most Major League players. Structure: a 15-second opener, three parts with one fact each (mark every fact with “VERIFY” and tell me where to check it), a question for the listener, and a close. Include a moment where one host tells about the first time they batted with a broomstick and a bottle cap. Tone: like a conversation on the front porch at home, with humor. Don’t put words in the mouths of real players or invent quotes: if you mention someone, only checkable facts. Mark pauses and sound effects in square brackets.
3 fields are missing: they will be copied with the examples. The examples are fine to start with, but your own details are what make the piece yours.
Where it is made: A text assistant for the script; for the recording, your own voice in the classroom or a generic synthetic voice from the catalog, the one your Learning Facilitator set up for the Unit.
- Check every “VERIFY” in the league’s official source or in serious media; if it can’t be confirmed, the fact comes out of the script.
- Record it in the classroom with your own voices, or use a generic voice from the catalog. Never a voice that imitates a real player or announcer.
- Swap the invented moment for something you really saw at a neighborhood ballfield (no names).
- C1: every fact in the episode is checked.
- C2: it sounds like a conversation, not like reading aloud.
- C3: no real person says something they didn’t say.
And at the end: did the prompt get better, or did the question?
