Example: the T-shirt try-on tool
Worked example: in Unit 00 someone said they use AI to design T-shirts. This is how you go from asking for a design to building the try-on tool.
Fill in the spaces and watch it change
Create an interactive browser page: a T-shirt try-on tool. It shows a T-shirt drawn with simple shapes, from the front and from the back. Controls: T-shirt color (white, black, navy blue, red and mango yellow), a text you type and place on the chest, and a drawing from a gallery of 6 icons (palm tree, tambora drum, ball, star, wave, sun). The font is chosen from three: a rounded one, a comic one and a college-style one. A button downloads the design as an image. No brand logos.
3 fields are missing: they will be copied with the examples. The examples are fine to start with, but your own details are what make the piece yours.
Where it is made: An assistant that builds interactive browser pages (HTML and JavaScript), the one your Learning Facilitator set up for the Unit.
- Attempt 1 of the example: “Design me a cool T-shirt”. What came out was a nice image that was impossible to change: every tweak meant starting over.
- What changed in attempt 2: the question went from “what design do I want?” to “what tool would let me try lots of designs?”. Now you’re the one who decides the design.
- Now you: add the icon gallery for your team or your event, drawn by you.
- C1: you can try ten designs in one minute.
- C2: the final decision is made by a person, not the tool.
And at the end: did the prompt get better, or did the question?
