The hat that sorts you into a house
An interactive quiz that sorts you into one of four made-up houses, with questions that only make sense here.
Fill in the spaces and watch it change
Create an interactive browser page: a quiz of 8 questions, inspired by the sorting ceremony in Harry Potter, that assigns whoever takes it to one of four made-up houses. The houses are: House Tambora (the ones who hype everyone up), House Ceiba (the ones who hold on), House Brisa (the ones who adapt) and House Faro (the ones who lead the way). Each question has four answers and each answer adds points to one house. The questions are everyday situations from here (what you do when the power goes out, what you order at the colmado, what you do if it rains when school lets out). At the end, show the house, its motto and a fun paragraph. Don’t ask for a name or any personal data, and don’t save anything.
3 fields are missing: they will be copied with the examples. The examples are fine to start with, but your own details are what make the piece yours.
Where it is made: An assistant that builds interactive browser pages (HTML and JavaScript), the one your Learning Facilitator set up for the Unit.
- Invent the houses yourself: each one has to be a way of being you recognize in the people around you.
- Write at least three questions yourself; they’re the ones that will make people laugh.
- Take the quiz five times with different answers: if the same house always comes up, ask it to balance the points.
- C1: all four houses can come up.
- C2: the questions only make sense to someone from here.
And at the end: did the prompt get better, or did the question?
